	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

AB 2264, Cedillo. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon exposure:

Existing law makes various provisions for the prevention of
disease and the promotion of health, and imposes various requirements
on the State Department of Health Services in this regard.
This bill would require the department, on or before January 1,
2002, to conduct a baseline health study of the effects of the
possible exposure to soil contamination from Polycyclic Aromatic
Hydrocarbons (PAHs) on the residents of the William Mead Homes public
housing project, located in Lincoln Heights in the County of Los
Angeles, and would require the study to focus on the health
conditions of the residents of the William Mead Homes public housing
project.
This bill would declare that it is to take effect immediately as
an urgency statute.

project.
SEC. 2. This act is an urgency statute necessary for the immediate

Due to the potential health threats to the residents of the

soil contamination from Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons and the

William Mead Homes public housing project, it is necessary for this
act to take effect immediately.
